I swear I'm alive...I think [01 Sep 2007|09:55am]
[ mood | annoyed ]

No really, I'm here still, sorry I probably haven't gotten ahold of anyone in forever...provided if anyone even reads this hehehe! Anyway, I have so much free time on my hand it's not even funny. But free time where you can do anything you want, versus, free time where you can't really do anything you want is really different...

So yeah, I'm gonna beetch for a bit...so go ahead and skip this part...
-----
I got a mac (for free, so that automatically upgrades my mac to uber coolness *rub* *rub* *rub*) and it's been pretty nifty and all that jazz. But, you know what really rides up my pooty hool in the not so cool way is finder. It's got to be the most retarded way to manage files EVER! WHY? Well, for starters, it loves to drop those .crap files everywhere on my other drives...I dub thee mac .poop (or if I follow there naming scheme iPoop) because it loves to shit on my other drives. I can't figure out when to double click and when to single click half the time, I don't get a copy option but no cut. The file views are too limiting especially columns (it must have been designed by a one-eyed, butt monkey), and there's no address bar for me to use, e.g. for smb or cifs...it sucks... And why can't I just pull open /proc? I mean it's Darwin right? It's supposed to be *ix? Oh yeah! That's right! THERE IS NO /proc directory!!! Why can't I just change the config files in /etc? I had to look around for this one, apparently all the configuration information is located in some file as values...but then again, I've only been using this mac for about 2 weeks now so I'm sure I could just be overlooking something simple. Half the time I really just run things from the teminal cause sadly it's faster for me to do it that way.

Don't get me wrong though, I really am enjoying the mac, unlike my windows system, I still haven't crashed it yet...okay, well I did it once. I got some sort of vram error after screwing around with the video settings that I don't think I was supposed to have access to. Anyway. I'm trying to install konqeror on osx, apparently some nice people decided to port it over so it runs natively. I do have some other issues with the mac but you know what? I realised the only reason I have a drive that runs windows is because of the games I play. Usually I just have my pc running Gentoo or Debian. If parallels is as good as everyone says it is, I'll be picking up a Intel based mac probably at the end of the year.
-----
Okay I'm done complaining!

So, if anyone wants anything from Japan or just wants to visit, I've got a spare bedroom (or you could always sleep in mine ;p)!

Oh yeah, I checked out Harajuku since it's a bit of a trip from where I live, I think I ate too many crepes...

Hope everyone is doing well!!!

My yearly dose of socks... [16 Dec 2003|10:31am]
Every year when I go to see my family (and even when I don't), I seem to get the same two things every year since I was 8, and then their was a brief interlude at 10 and then back to the same ever since. But that's okay because it doesn't really matter to me. I've never told my family that I just go home for the food :p

On another not, this is FINALS week, and I have no FINALS. What the heck am I going to do with all my time!!!

Also in the news, the Big Fat F**ker is coming in eight more days for those of you that are going by PST. So I all hope that everyone has a not so safe but Happy Holiday!

...what the hell...I look on my friends list thinking, "well, let's see what everyone's up to!" And for the most part life apparently sucks for most of the people I know? It can't really be that bad, can it? Well anyway, I kinda' figured, maybe I'd add my own update...

Let me see...how has the past couple of days been? Pretty good, no complaints. How about school? Passing all my classes, high GPA, no stupid teachers this semester (that was a hard one to pull off). Motorcycle? Running. Computer? Working (New SATA HD, thanks guys!). Girlfriend? Check. Boyfriend? Workin' on that. Hello Kitties? Plenty. Money? BlingBling. Friends? Enough of em'. Food? Always! Bed? Warm. Hmm, for the most part, everything seems to be fine :p

I hope everyone else's week turns out to be just as good (or better)!!!

Ha! Hahahaha! It runs! Yes, got the bike running today...oh and it's soooo good. Okay it's not that good, still needs a bit of work and the tires are so fubar'd that I need to go out and get new ones...oh well just another $250. I knew I was going to have to do that anyway. It was pretty frustrating today working on the bike...it was an electrical nightmare, but it's up and working now after much headache...thanks again Charles for working on the electrical stuff! Found out what was going wrong.
1. There was a wire shorting out stuff (claimed the lives of 2 fuses)
2. The ignition was the wrong model
3. The stater button assembly was broken
But after this bit of setback things are coming along quite nicely.

All in all it's not too bad. Just got to redo the forks, new tires, and a paint job plus bondo work and it'll be as good as new if not better! :)

Oh yeah, and an engine rebuild as soon as I get bored enough to do it...

F***** electrical wiring! [15 Jul 2003|03:04pm]
[ mood | apathetic ]
[ music | An oscillating fan. ]

Monday started out great. Got up around 8ish and headed out to start work on the bikes :). All was going well until...well...started to actually work on the bikes.

First thing that went bad was I decided to remove the steering head bolt. It's about 30mm but I'll never know...someone in the US decided to put an embargo on any metric sockes that range from 27mm to 34mm. Really friggin' wonderful. So I ended up just getting a 1 1/4" standard socket and it worked for the most part...at least it did the job. Managed to get the right size after the third trip to Kragen...
Second...and I should have known this by now...even though the motorcycle models are of the same breed and family...they're different enough to piss you off. All I needed was the headlight mount off of the 82' Silverwing...but in order to do that I had to get the upper and lower triples also. And the shocks. After a bit of swapping back and forth, I retained most of the original parts with the exception of the front tire assembly including the axle, forks, front fender, headlight housing assembly, and upper and lower triple. Now I have other issues, for example, the ignition cover is also a fuse box for the 79' CX500 deluxe and also doubles as the upper clamp for the handlebars. Unfortunately now, after mountin it, the key ignition is recessed a good inch into the mount so I can barely reach it with the key and it's easier to turn the key with needle nose pliers cause' you can't use your hand...plus there's other crap...
Third...and this one is my fault...I got a little impatient and decided to undo the front end wiring harness because I needed to switch out the front end (see problem two). Well, in my rush I didn't mark the wires so we got to play pick the lead. Well I didn't really Adrian had that one (thanks btw, I don't think I would have gotten anywhere near as completed as you got it). And in the process we only blew one fuse, and caused smoke to appear no less then three times...not too bad if you ask me.

But I did find the wiring specs for both models. Apparently there are quite a lot of CX500/GL500/CX650 enthusiast out there! So all is not lost!

Well at least I learned my lesson. Instead of working on used bikes, just go out and buy one.

Ah yes, I'm three bikes richer again. Okay, two, still need to find a way to pick up the last one. Probably end up renting a truck and heading back down to pick it up...

Headed down to LA and got to see two of my friends. Tina and Janene. Janene has been giving me a play by play update on her currently relationships, I finally find out what happens to cheerleaders after they graduate.

Apparently she's decided to go through mid-life crisis. And I decided to ask her what mid-life crisis is, seeing as I have no idea what it would entail. She told me in brief it consisted of bouts of confusion and lonliness, stints of anger, a dollop or two of frustration, and stirred thoroughly until insane. I then reminded her that this occurs also at the start of adolescence normally so she should be used to it.

I did manage a bit of work on the bikes that came in. I need to switch the front assembly between the two...this is getting too repetative. Also I need to find out the size of the nut that connects the triple tree to the frame. It's freakin' huge. I'd have to guess somewhere between 24 to 26mm.

Anyway, hopefully everyone's having a good summer so far :)

Rubber side down... [02 Jul 2003|01:39am]
[ mood | apathetic ]
[ music | The sound of my own voice... ]

Yes, it's almost ready. After waiting x-crew-shee-ay-tingly long time, the 2001 Kwak is almost ready to fly again...hopefully the clutch plates won't be stuck. But if it is, I know this nifty trick that requires the corner of a very sturdy wall and a lot throttle...
Anywho, Chuckles and I swapped out the 93' with the 01' front end, it's off by about 2mm, but we'll just calt it artistic expression. It's lookin' good so far and we managed to figure out what was wrong with it last time. It seems that the wiring mapping was slightly off between the 93' ignition system and the 01'. Apparently Kawasaki decided to change more than just the styling of it after 94'. So the six wire harness on the 93' is minus one connector and there apparently wasn't a ground to fire the plugs, well that's all taken care of so hopefully when the parts come back painted, I'll finally get to ride the new one. A brand spanking new engine with only 7k miles on it with a crisp clutch and rear disk brakes...somethings we shouldn't take for granted. Still planning on rebuilding the 93' through. I also ordered the front cowling in all it's glorious fiberglass styling and I plan on cutting holes to make shiny DOT certified eyeballs glow through. Maybe stack two on top of each other off to the side of bit. Don't see that everyday, make it unique somehow. But anyway, I'm defenitely looking forward to taking the EX out for a spin.
In other news, I'll defenitley heading down in a week or two to pick up three CX500's. At least they're not parallel twins...have too many of those right now.
Interesting CX's are transversal mounts that have a shaft for the final drive versus a chain. Added weight but smoother transfer of power. So those'll be fun to putt' around on. Touring versus sport/touring I guess. At least I'll be able to feel my butt after 30 minutes of riding.
But we'll see what happens in a couple of weeks...who knows, might ride off on a brand new ZX6R...

Ore-sama to SheShe-chan to isho ni "sewing" o tsukeru toki, tanoshikute omoshiroii da na!!!
To those with much more Nihongonified MAD skillz (totemo jozu) than I, if I poopoo'ed it anywere a very somewhat not quite sincere Gomen Nasai is going out to you.

Anyway, Sheyne and I got working on her Miwako dress (and a bit of the Momo-hime dress) for Fanime this past weekend and it's looking good if I do say so myself, and do I ever! So yeah, everything seems to be coming together really well and what's really cool is that Matt gotta hang out with us and added to the creative synergy ambience thingy going on! Ah next weekend it Fanime so get your costumes together kiddies!

And now for a bit of a rant...I know I'm a bit older than many of my friends here on Kali's lovely coast, and I don't know if maybe that has something to do with it. The whole with age comes wisdom nonsense. Well what I'm trying to get to is respect. And not just respect in general but that which is given between two intimate people. Now this has nothing to do with my current realationship (and for you out there who know me, Hello Kitty and I have absolutely no issues with our current, platonic relationship. And neither does Miffy. And neither does Lisa.) But just for reference, my past relationship with that person that shall remain nameless, but just for labeling's sake, let's call here Bitch. So I used to date this girl named Bitch. And she was a lot of fun but whenever she had a problem I would ask her what it was and she would say, "that everything was fine," or ,"nothing." Now I'm pretty damn close to being blind, but I did notice that Bitch was not fine but she would never tell me what the issue was even if it was with me and she would say that everything that concerned both her and I were fine (which of course was a complete and 'udder lie). What I don't understand...actually I'm just going to drop that here otherwise I'd end up writing a novel about this nonsense.

What I want to basically say is that if you respect your partner, you should just trust them and tell them what is bothering you. Now this is not an open invitation to a emotional dumping ground, but it should be an invitation to grow together. So if you gonna do something that'll affect the otherperson, be honest dammit to both the other person and yourself.

Goddess that was depressing. I'm gonna go to that Suzuki dealership tomorrow and look around...they have nice bikes there...I swear, only to look...

Another update in the middle of the night (well what else am I gonna do after going to the gym...). I got a chance to go to Carla's with Adrian. For some time now, I've been contemplating purchasing a wig for my Fanime costume (which isn't really a costume and more of an excuse to dress-up). So anyway, the short of it is I broke down and bought one, and now that I have it...*gosh darn it*, I wanna go back and get more...but NO! I can hold out! Lest mere material items doth temp me! "Nay", say I!!! Whatsover sythetic fabrications yet molest my dreams, never shall they dominate my being! Am I so shallow as to allow simple monetary nick-nacks govern that which makes me unique? [ music | Au naturale ambience... ]

I went to the "Box" last night in Santa Cruz! Ah, that was so much fun, I hadn't had a chance to head out there in some time!

I've been helping out my friend put her cosplay costume together, she's going to be Princess Peas at Fanime, it's been a lot of fun and I haven't had a chance to put a costume together for some five years or so...oh I'm getting old...

It's been interesting trying to get a two dimensional pattern to fit onto a three dimesional body. I have much respect for those who design clothes, but hopefully with more practice I will be able to design my own, sell them publicly and put everyone out of business! Then I'll be a millionare!!! Bwhahahahahahahahaha...oh wait, I'm already a millionare.

Destruction reconstruction [30 May 2003|02:35pm]
[ mood | apathetic ]
[ music | Propellar Heads with Shirley Bassey (Spehllyng Eneewun?) ]

My bike go boom, actually I think it was more of a "OH $#!T", burning rubber, scraping metal, then a bendy bush. Said bush assited in the realease of the bike's stored potential energy.

Ah silly me. My friend Jake had ridden up to Santa Cruz with Dusty so that we could go out ridin' with Adrian. Unfortunately, 15 some odd minutes into the ride, I was coming out of a turn and spied in my side view mirror a flash of white sliding into Santa Cruz's ever green foliage. That happened to be Jake and my bike.

Unfortunate for Jake he had navigated a turn incorrectly and braked while he was leaned over and the bike just slid out as he low-sided. He managed to walk away unscathed with the exception of an exploded, right wrist. He managed to shatter it apparently. I've coversed with him via email and all seems to be going well! So that's good.

As for my bike, fortunately I have another donor GS500 that I'm sure will work nicely for transplant purposes. I've removed most of the front housing including the headlamp and instrument panel, break system, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I will also be in dire need of the clutch lever/cable assembly...

Perhaps in the next week or so I would like to resurrect it.

Ah well until then the EX500 will have to suffice.

Just to spite... [25 Apr 2003|01:12pm]
[ mood | apathetic ]

Yeah, so I never update this well HERE it is! (Note: You should check out my friend J_Kub's LiverJournal it's a lot better than mine). In all it's fantastic glory, the all new updated Cho-Puchiko-Super-Liver-Journal-Site!!! Bask in it's magnifi-essence <- just say it really quickly. In order to get the full scintillating effect, simply follow these simply directions:

1. Place finger on the asterisk below.
2. Now scratch! (That's right boys and girls, that's a scratch and sniff asterisk, try to find one of those on anyone else's LiverJournal site!)

*

3. It's a new technology so the scent might not be that strong. See below for troubleshooting techniques.

Troubleshooting the all new Scratch n' Sniff Asterisk(r)
1. It is well known that the ne S n' S Asterisk technology is better stimulated through higher amounts of pressure with the application of very sharp tools. Usually the bigger and sharper the better the results!
2. The second FAQ is that it always works much better on a Active Matrix TFT screen than a CRT. Especially when it's on a friends Flat Screen. Also size does matter. If your friend has a very expensive Flat Screen that's really big 20' or more, then the S n' S Asterisk technology will most certainly come through! Simply take a large, sharp machete and rub it up and down vigorously against your friend's flat screen monitor! Don't smell anything, press your nose firmly against the asterisk on the screen, you should get increasingly better results instantly!!!
3. If in fact none of these work, then the placement of the asterisk itself is what is causing the issue. Simply move the window to place the asterisk on a different part of the screen. If you have done this with the entire screen and were still unable to smell anything then your friends screen may be damaged. But do not dispair, all you need to do is find another friend's screen to try it out on!

*note - the all new S n' S Asterisk technology works on laptops too!!!
